Eighth grade is all about maturity, personal responsibility, and self-discipline. Whether it is homework, creative writing topics, grammar sheets, or notice of an upcoming test, it is explained as well as written on the front board. It is the student’s responsibility to record the necessary information in his/her assignment book. If the student is absent, we issue an “UPDATE” which contains a brief description of the lessons missed, along with the correlating worksheets that are required for completion. Planning, studying, and organizing begin at home and usually result in a successful school day. The textbooks and workbooks that my classes are using this year are as follows:
  • Literature-Based Vocabulary Study from Book level I or J
  • Holt Elements of Literature
  • Selections from Literature II by Holt, Rinehart, & Winston
  • Selected trade novels are read after the completion of Holt Literature units.
